Once I started watching Freaked, I remembered that I'd watched it back in the day, when I was all of 14 or so. And as the opening credits screamed and barfed the early 90s at me, I don't seem to remember liking it even back then, when I was the target audience.
To call this movie terrible is an understatement. I can't think of one redeemable feature, other than that it ended. It's not just dated; it clearly was terrible even then. I'm pretty sure the crew was simply shown a documentary of how to act, and they winged it from there.
I don't care for movies that mistake loud noises and absurd pratfalls are automatically funny, and this one does so in spades. "Look, he fell down!" "Look, he's got a big nose." "Oh my god, there's goo and guns." My eyes were sprained, they rolled so hard.
Nostalgia is one thing, and it sometimes softens the rough edges on old movies, but nothing could save this one. Other than if I did as many drugs as the people who made it; then, everything might be super fun.
Unless you can get your hands on that large quantity of mind-altering substances, I cannot recommend ever finding this movie for viewing.
